Guests on Princess Cruises ships sailing to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, all Alaska ports as well as St. Thomas, have the option to use the cruise line’s contactless MedallionPay purchasing option.
The payment option also provides users with a 7% onboard ship credit on shoreside purchases. Guests use the payment option via their Princess Medallion wearable device.
“MedallionPay offers the ultimate in payment convenience and security for guests both on board and now in ports we visit seamlessly blending the onboard and destination experience,” John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises, said in the release.
The latest merchants accepting MedallionPay are Diamonds International and Cariloha, as well as more than 65 other retailers from restaurants, bars, souvenir stores and jewelers to museums and excursion operators.
“We are so excited to be partnering on the MedallionPay program with Princess Cruises,” Wendy Tarapani, Diamonds International, said in the release “Our guests are finding it an easy way to make their purchases since MedallionPay is a natural extension to the onboard experience.”
No credit card or personal information is stored on the Medallion. When making a purchase with participating retail locations, merchants securely confirm the transaction with two-factor authentication that exceeds typical credit card transaction.
